Ruby

I've know Ruby since High School and she's always had an amazing voice. She's an upcoming R&B/ Jazz artist from Charlotte, North Carolina so we did an urban pin-up inspired photoshoot that she could use in her promotions next year.

Fun With a QueenofBlending Tutorial

I'm subscribed to quite a few makeup artists channels on YouTube and one of my favorite artists is QueenofBlending. Just as her name states, she does an amazing job of blending eyeshadow and making everything look seamless, mainly using a Sonia Kashuk Small Eyeshadow Brush. 

This is my take on it and keep in mind, I have a much smaller eyelid :)

A few weeks ago I did some photos of my adorable Store Directors little boys in Matthews, NC. They were so sweet and even though they became a little worn out towards the end they we're still good sports. Here are a few of my favorite photos:

Clean Brow = Happy Brow

I love my brows, I'm not going to even lie. I went through a phase in college when my brows were so thin and I didn't even realize it. I was looking at old photos on Facebook and I asked my mom why she let me walk around with such thin brows and she just simply said "that's what you wanted". I couldn't argue with her after that.

I go through periods when I'm completely in love with a brow product for a few months and then I go onto something else. My old cast member LaZelle is all about defined brows and she told me I should try the Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil. I've always shown this line to clients because she's considered to be the "Brow Expert" but I've never actually tried it on myself. Lets just say I'm in love now. It gives such a nice defined looked to the brows and you can create thicker or thinner shapes within your brow because it blends great and it adheres to the skin well. I finally got my brows threaded after almost three and a half weeks, they were really starting to get obnoxious.

I filled in one so that you could see the difference it makes. I prefer to have a thicker, longer, rectangular shaped brow since I have a rounded heart shaped face. I would advise most people who are filling their brows in for the first time to go along with the natural shape of your brow. Brows frame the face so you always want to make sure that they look somewhat decent, even if you don't necessarily want to fill them in. Brows are the one thing I do everyday because it gives dimension to your face and it looks polished. A clean brow is a happy brow!

Bridal Portraits

I had the pleasure of working with the lovely Sunny Hutchinson, founder of Themba Imagery and Jazzmin Jolly for a Bridal shoot a few weekends ago. Jazzmin isn't actually engaged but you couldn't tell from the photos because they turned out beautifully! This was my first time just being the makeup artist while the photographer worked their magic. Here are some of my favorite photos:

Happy Halloween!

I'm sitting in my living room watching Dusk Till Dawn and handing out candy to the kiddies tonight. October is probably my favorite month out of the year for many reasons: the leaves start to changes, the weather begins to get a little cooler, fall fashions are much more exciting and Halloween of course! Now, I know Halloween isn't a holiday but in my book it is! I put in my request to work an early shift and to have November 1st off back in July- I told you I wasn't kidding.  This year I saved my money and didn't even buy a costume, I'm trying to do this whole "saving money" thing and I'd figured I could put something together with what I already have. Katie and I went to Dharma Lounge for their Le Bang Halloween Party, I ended up making my makeup my costume, I didn't really know where I was going with it but the finished product looked David Bowie inspired.

Katie was an LOLcat and her costume was really cute. If you aren't familiar with LOLcat I'd definitely suggest you to check it out here especially if you like funny cat things.

We were able to dress up in our costumes at work and I was a pin-up girl! I tried to stay true with the pin-up makeup with a subtle cut crease with a matte deep brown, soft peachy cheeks, and the iconic red lip. I had a hard time trying to make my hair look pin-up since it's so short now but I was happy with the way it turned out. I'm still rocking the wavy look just not as polished as yesterday.
